For our first day of field work on Belle Isle we did behavioral mapping, and I was located in the middle of the island in between the rock quarry and walking trails and the river. I made sure to note the different activities that were being done in the space, and the age and gender of participants. The majority of activities that were observed were walking, biking, and running, and on the river people were kayaking and sitting on the rocks talking. I made sure to note the direction the participants were traveling in, and I recorded if I saw any person more than once. The parking lot to get into the park was packed, but that did not seem to match the amount of people that I could observe. It would be interesting to see how the space would be used on the weekend, and if our observations would vary.
