Google Data Post 4

One thing that stuck out to me was the amount of female park users, and within that group the amount of those females who were white. Looking at the data, this fact makes sense because a major part of the reason why people visited the park was for children to get outdoors, and this is closely associated with mothers. Knowing the demographics of Fredericksburg, it seems reasonable that the majority of female park users would be white, but the sheer percentage was surprising to me.

Another thing that stuck out to me was the percentage of park users who walked to the park, instead of using their car. I thought since the majority of parks in Fredericksburg are located in or around residential neighborhoods, the numbers would be closer to equal.

One of the emerging patterns I noticed was that the majority of park users use the parks as recreational spaces to jog, run, or walk their dog. I don’t know if this had to do with the exact parks that we surveyed, or is this a general theme that emerges among all park surveys.
